Hi, we're Web Activation.

Adrian founded Web Activation to build useful software with modern AI and cloud technology — and he still writes the code.

Web Activation is a small, hands-on development company based in Brisbane & Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Over the past eighteen months we've designed and built more than a dozen products and platforms — from an AI video studio and a field-work media platform to university systems integration and a construction cost platform.

It's not our first time: Web Activation first traded in Melbourne from 1997 to 2005, building internet, intranet and e-commerce systems, and was relaunched in 2025 to build AI-powered products.

Behind that pace is 35 years in software: 25 years hands-on as a developer and architect, and 10+ years managing software projects and delivery teams. Adrian has worked for global law and business-data firms, technology consultancies and a government and public-sector software company, with projects across universities, energy, aviation, health and emergency services.

What we work with

  • Microsoft Azure — App Service, Cosmos DB, Blob Storage, Key Vault, Entra External ID, API Management, Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Vision, with infrastructure written in Bicep and deployed through GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • AI and multi-model workflows — combining models from several vendors in one pipeline, grounding them in organisational knowledge, and keeping a person in charge of approvals and spend.
  • SaaS products — Next.js, React, TypeScript, Supabase and PostgreSQL, multi-tenant data isolation, roles, Stripe payments and admin consoles; Expo for mobile.
  • Enterprise integration — REST APIs, Copilot and Power Automate connectors, Excel data imports and automated smoke testing for large organisations.

How we build

Each project is driven by written product requirements and architecture decision records. Work ships in small, tested increments to a live dev environment, so clients see progress every week rather than at the end. We use AI coding agents heavily — with clear specifications and review — which lets a small team deliver like a much larger one. Read how we build properly.

    Senior developer and development team lead

    A global business-data company

    Built the client web portal (released 1997) and a bespoke C/C++ system that replaced mainframe credit-reporting technology, rolled out to offices around the world.

  3. 1997–2005

    Founder

    Web Activation Pty Ltd, Melbourne

    The first Web Activation: internet and intranet applications, e-commerce, content management, online learning and reporting systems for corporate, government and small-business clients, consulting directly and through design houses.

  4. 2005–2010

    Solution architect, then Senior Systems Architect

    Technology consultancies, software vendors and a global law firm

    Enterprise APIs over HR, billing and document-management systems, and a legacy-to-.NET rebuild that took response times to under a second.

  5. 2010–2017

    Microsoft Practice Manager & Principal Consultant

    A national technology consultancy

    Led a practice of 60–70 architects, developers and agile practitioners delivering Azure, Dynamics 365, SharePoint and .NET solutions.

  6. 2017–2018

    Practice Manager, Microsoft Dynamics CRM

    A Microsoft partner consultancy

    Led the CRM practice: solution design, estimation and delivery.

  7. 2018–2021

    Product owner, iteration manager and technical BA

    Government, health, emergency-services and payments organisations

    Including a whole-of-government digital identity platform and an emergency-alerts web app.

  8. 2021–2022

    Principal Consultant, Agile Delivery

    A cloud, data and AI consultancy

    Delivered cloud, data and AI/ML projects on AWS and GCP for government, energy and aviation clients.

  9. 2022–2025

    Director of Software Engineering, ANZ

    A government and public-sector software company

    Led 28 people across five squads, working with colleagues in Australia, India and the US. Took a new product to an MVP for 10 clients in two months, and a full 1.0 release in five.

Right now

Most of our time is going into YTCC, an AI studio for producing video shows with a consistent cast, which is heading towards public sign-up. We're also taking on a limited number of client projects.
